Located on the bank of the Lake Herastrau in Bucharest , the museum is a result of Profesor Dimitrie Gusti’s research on rural regions. The Village Museum was opened in 1936 the same year as the one from Skansen (Stockholm). Both museums are the first open-air ethnographic museums in the world.

Valea Prahovei Tour, Full Day

Duration: 8-10hours

Touring Highlights: Valea Prahovei is a northern route starting from Bucharest across several mountain resorts up to the Bucegi Mountains. It is founded on routes known long before XX century to cross the mountains from Muntenia to Transilvania, the two provinces that found themselves together within United Romania only after 1st World War. That is why the tour ends with the former “Gate” of the Transilvania which is the Bran Castle highly known as the Dracula Castle after used as inspiration to Bram Stocker along with the well-known count Dracula figure. Valea Prahovei is known for its chain of diverse landscapes starting from the fields to hills area and in the end crossing the mountains panoramas. It is highly touristic any season.
